Q) What are the requirements to work for Apex Rover?
To work as an agency nurse or with a nurse staffing agency you must have:
Q) Agencies pay more and allow me to create my own schedule, so what's is the catch?
Agency staffing is built on the foundation of supporting the community and core staff in a time of need. We are present to fill in the holes and adapt to whatever is handed to us.
What does that mean for you?
You are the last person to get choice assignment, the first to get floated and the first to be canceled. Agency nursing requires flexibility in taking shifts and adapting to new openings. This does not always mean we get our choice shifts.
Agency often have to travel to different facilities in different towns to ensure hours. Agency workers are brought in when no one else is available. This also means there is no training.
Our workers are brought into these facilities, given a basic tour, access to charting and expected to drop and run. You are expected to understand how to adapt to any facility you are present at and learn quickly.
Q) That doesn't sound great. How do I know I will get the hours I need?
All Employees have an option to enter into a SET contract with a facility. These are generally anywhere from 8-13 weeks long. They specify a certain shift, and a certain number of hours. Employees in this type of contract are allowed to be canceled by the facility, one shift every 2 weeks. Anything greater than this allows the employee to receive their wages, even if they are canceled.
The downside is... there is less flexibility in scheduling. Employees don't choose their own schedules. This is done by facilities to ensure wholes are being filled.
Those who wish to make their own schedules and get opportunities for bonus shifts can stay as PER DIEM.
This is a PRN position. Facilities release their schedules to our agency, and these hours are then in turn posted for Apex Rover staff to claim. Once confirmed by the facility, it is then added to their schedule.
Q) What if I get to the facility and they cancel me? Do I get any compensation for coming?
YES! Any cancellations, less then 2 hours in advance are given 4 hours of base pay.
Q) Do you compensate for Mileage?
YES! If a facility is >40 miles from your home address (one-way) you are eligible for mileage reimbursement. You must give an estimated number of miles when claiming the shift to be eligible for this feature. We reimburse based on federal mileage standards. This updates yearly.
